Brian Boeck, 14 Oct

The Russian History Seminar will hold its next meeting of the 2016-2017 academic year on Friday, October 14, 5:00pm-6:15pm in ICC 662 on the Georgetown University campus. Brian Boeck will present his paper, “A Forgery, a Dynastic Fertility Crisis and the Evils of Ivan IV."


Brian J. Boeck is an associate professor at DePaul University at Chicago. He is completing a book devoted to memories of Ivan IV a.k.a. The Terrible in Russia between his death and the late eighteenth century. The book explores tyranny, forgery, and Russia's emerging cultural consciousness of its contradictory past.
